Update on COVID-19 Alert Level 4 procedures for students

Kia ora koutou,

Our normal routine at Hukarere Girls’ College will change from tomorrow as a result of the Prime Minister’s announcement this evening that New Zealand is going to a COVID-19 Alert Level 4 lockdown for at least three days (Auckland and Coromandel will be seven days).

We want to assure whānau and caregivers that your girls and our students are our top priority, and we will do all we can to ensure they are cared for and safe during these unusual times.

We are working on an online learning structure for the next few days and our Deputy Principal Stephanie Clifton will be in touch with the details.

Unfortunately, at Alert Leve 4, we have been advised by the Ministry of Education that the Hostel will be closed and parents should make arrangements to bring their children home. However, the exception will be if there are boarders who cannot safely return home and who must continue to be cared for (for example, international students). All requirements of Alert Level 4 will be followed at all times and your child will be safe.

We will keep you informed of any developments, but in the meantime keep you and your families safe.

Ma te Atua tatou e manaakii, kia u ki te pai.
Shona West (Principal) and Amelia Kaui (Hostel Manager).
